Michelle Sexton is a Naturopathic Doctor and a lifelong learner and teacher, formerly a provider here at PTI, and still collaborates with PTI on projects.
Michelle's clinical practice, research and teaching focus encompass the endocannabinoid system (ECS) and roles of this system in naturopathic/ function/ integrative medicine, to treat a range of conditions.
Dr. Sexton is a trusted pioneer in medical cannabis. She opened the first cannabis analysis laboratory in Washington State and has served as an editor on the American Herbal Pharmacopeia botanic monographs. She created some of the first education for healthcare professionals on medical cannabis She maintains a small private practice in San Diego, CA.
PTI is colocated with Well-Mamas and sees patients on Mondays and Thursdays.

Pain Trauma Institute partners with Groundswell Community Project to facilitate Individuall and Group therapies and tap into their amazing network of surf sisters who lead with trauma-informed, somatic healing.
Pain News Network is an independent, non-profit online news service that provides in-depth coverage about chronic pain and illness. Their mission is to raise awareness about chronic pain, and to connect and educate pain sufferers, caregivers, healthcare providers and the public about the pain experience. We will share any articles that we believe to be important, and be free to explore the entire website.

Dr. Rebecca Rodriguez “ Becca” , founded Level UP Health SD, with the intention to treat the whole person. Becca is involved in various significant medical roles and initiatives. She sponsored a collaborative educational session with PTI, focusing on trauma-informed care in a Primary Care setting, during the 2022 ACOFCA conference. Currently serving on the USOPC Physician Advisory Board, she has an esteemed history, having been the Medical Director for Team USA's high-performance center during the 2016 Rio Olympics and as a Team USA physician during the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru.
Furthermore, Dr. Rodriguez holds pivotal roles as a team physician for USA Women's Water Polo and USA Rugby, along with being the head team physician for the San Diego Legion, a major league rugby team. She's dedicated to enhancing healthcare quality and contributes to policy-making in national organizations, including serving as Vice President for AOASM, being on the ACOFP California Board, participating in ACOFP Health and Wellness and Procedural Committee, and engaging with the President's Council.
