People have varied responses to the word, “trauma.” What is trauma really? There are a wide varieties of events a person can experience that can be considered traumatic. However, what matters is if you, the individual, has experienced long-lasting effects by the event, be it interpersonal, communal, or ecological. Whether or not you identify with having experienced trauma in your life, a trauma-informed approach to your mental and physical health offers various benefits to you as a patient. Trauma-informed care at Pain Trauma Institute means that we operate with an understanding of the prevalence and far reaching impact that trauma has on the whole person (mind, body, spirit). No matter what service you receive, every clinician is trained and experienced operating from a trauma-informed lens. We collaborate with our patients by addressing symptoms and root cause of mental health diagnoses, chronic illness and pain (of all kinds).

Eco Therapy

When we say our team approaches patients with a whole-person perspective that includes the impact of one’s environment and their experience of nature on mental health.

The positive benefits of connecting with nature and an increased awareness of the natural world can be effective in reducing stress, anxiety, depression, and anger.

At Pain Trauma Institute we incorporate nature-based approaches to healing such as surf therapy, walking grief groups, and support group sessions held outside in a variety of environments.
